This painting came from an early winter morning walk near Derrycreha, on what is called the 'old bog road. The title translation is roughly - Mountain red grasses, Cob Dubh.
In the distance is Sugarloaf mountain near Glengarriff, but perhaps what i loved in this view were the old polls streaking across the hills.
This Painting was for the West Cork Creates 2022 exhibition called 'FOLK'.
I based my paintings for the exhibition on the Fionnán grass. This beautiful word is the Irish name for the mountain grass, and is still used today.
