Fionnán Fomhar Dearg, Cob Dubh. (Autumn mountain grass as Cob Dubh) - print

A very early winter morning walk near Derrycreha, on what is called the 'old bog road', and the 'old dump road'. We had lots of Lockdown walks here. 

In the distance is Sugarload near glengarriff. My favourite thing in this painting is the polls gooing accorss teh hills and their shadows in the cool dawn light. 

This Painting was for the West Cork Creates 2022 exhibition called 'FOLK'. I based my paintings for the exhibition on the Fionnán grass. This beautiful word is the Irish name for the mountain grass, and is still used today. It is everywhere on the hills in west cork, particularly where I live between Bantry and Glengarriff.  It changes seasonally, and thus changes the colour of the hills.
